Fillies Rule

The award-winning filly, Songbird, sold for a staggering $9.5 million (yes, million) this week in Kentucky.  She was retired earlier this year due to injury and will be bred in 2018.  She's 4 so she can have a lot of babies and if they are anything at all like their mother, we'll be seeing some baby Songbirds winning G1 races in a few years.

Stellar Wind also sold this week too, for $6M.  She won a number of G1 races and will be bred in 2018 to American Pharoah.

Queen of the turf, Tepin sold for $8 million and will relocate to Ireland after being picked up by Coolmore at the Fasig-Tipton Kentucky fall sale.  She will be bred to international star Galileo in 2018.

And not to be outdone by the race horses, Miss Madison posted her biggest win of her short career last weekend by topping the field of more than 30 horses to win big in the Green Hunters.  Trainer Ashley was proud of the little bay mare that could and did.  Great job!  Vacationing for a few weeks before we move up to the big jumps in 2018.

There is nothing better than a great mare!  Right?  Yes, says Songbird, Stellar Wind, Tepin and Madison!

  1. Is that Lexington Horse Park? Groomed at Dressage shows there for Iron Spring Farm. Great facility.
